-update-PORTLAND FUCKS- the shows and cultural events played + audience'd recently.

Been diggin the big city so far.

For context i moved from eugene to portland oregon. Below is some pix of the move my lovely friend Ralph Barton helped me move, packed it up and drove. Blessed i am.

bye eugene

We stopped at the powerful falls i-205. Gorgeous.

I introduce you to a new friend

Maya Songbird

Ive been following this artist for years but we have never met. Ive been a fan ever since i lived on the noise ranch in the state of jefferson (norcal) and I was like , who is this badass creative woman who has a magic shop (relatively) nearby in chico and makes sick tunes?

I finally got to meet her and we definitely hit it off! We played a show on the seventeenth of november at azoth space, a stalwart in the Portland underground.

I had not met Ghost Piss or Lucia Luna yet either. Both acts are Portland base engaging live electronics with singing original lyrics.

Ghost Piss had an mc 303 and a microphone; spitting breakup songs and hot girl anthems. Lucia Luna presented a dark heavy hitting set with haunting vo-kills.

Lucia Luna below:

Maya and i spent a few days together having fun, resting, scheming, hitting the Jacuzzi and doing magic. She went home to California, celebrating her birthday soon after her last show of tour in Seattle.

A few weeks passed…

Barely long enough for me to redo the way i approach performing live with the octatrack.

Such a very complicated instrument.

I got midi figured out to change the program (the sound the synth makes) 🙌🙌🙌

Major developement in midi competency !

Live in the depths is a cultural institution in Portland for all the wierdos that love dance music and appreciate live hardware artists.

Its been active for a decade or more , the first Thursday of the month. Thanks to Doug for reaching out asking me to play.

I was nervous but my set and everyone else’s set went extremely well!

I’ve been wanting to go to Live in The Depths for years, i only got to make the pilgrimage once.

The first act of the night, Deluvian, brought some stanky dark noise boogie w ebm vibes side by side pure acid vibes; 303 and the tiny paper kind.

He was wearing a shirt with Do from heavens gate printed huge on the front. A circuit bent doll on top of the gear that provided endless noisey diversions during and between songs.

The second act, Bot23, filled the room w notes moving too fast to track. An undercurrent of bass brought people to the front. We could all feel the room was building momentum; friends dancing.

I met new people. It was awesome.

I went on third and i crushed it more completely than ever before. Definitely left my body and let the music move it. Noticing sweat and time moving fast and slow.

This resulted in a lot of sore neck muscles from headbanging and being soaked in sweat.

Dossier shown below closed out the night with a devilish electro set. It was super well put together, and even had the jersey club bed creak sample in one of the songs!

Never heard that in electro.

I sometimes wonder, what if electro “won”. What if electro was more popular than techno or hip hop. It’s such a horny form of music. I think it could have happened. I love electro!

The saturday after live in the depths i got to attend a studio opening at a new venue and studio project.

The first of many shows i hope at a barn remodeled with the nicest recording studio i have ever been inside of.

My friend Tatiana invited me and i had a transcendental experience. It was the first time i have seen her perform!

She layered drones from wind instruments, various synthesizers, and her own voice to weave an experience that transported me and my friend Sean. I am usually stoned at the noise show ill be honest, but this type of dynamic slowly morphing drone emanating from human voice and acoustic instrument looping felt like drugs. A trance assistant! Spiritual technology for sure.

Below is most of the mind-bending performance by Musique Mystiq that night:

Thats all for now!
