RUNGLER fills the silence when no one is touching the XY pads — it generates self-animating tonal texture that's harmonically alive without being random noise. The barcode looper (dspm_archive.lua) already granulates held audio; RUNGLER could be the audio source going into the looper, so even idle stretches have movement. RUNGLER also outputs audio signals, meaning its output can feed the norns softcut buffers directly — see norns-softcut-loopers-reels-otis for the recording chain. No grid required; E1–E3 knobs and K2/K3 buttons control the parameters, making it fully usable from the norns hardware alone.

Organelle OS v5 — PLAY patches and browser code editor

OS v5 ships 8 new PLAY synths (CZ, Cini, Colossus, Flutetine, Lead HQ, Organ Electric, Organ Special, Reeds), browser code editor, web terminal, and updated Pd 0.53 — biggest Organelle M firmware jump in years.

The browser code editor changes live Orac patching. Previously tweaking a Pd module mid-session required SSH or a USB stick; now you can open the Organelle's web UI from the same phone running the dspm PWA — both on the travel router LAN — and hotfix an Orac chain parameter range without breaking the set. The web terminal also makes it trivial to restart patches or swap Orac modules from the audience area. The CZ-style phase distortion synth is a natural voice layer against the barcode looper's sustained loops. plugdata v0.9.3 (March 2026) lands Linux ARM64 builds, Windows ASIO support, and MIDI routing fixes — Pure Data as a VST/LV2 plugin now runs natively on Raspberry Pi 5.

The ARM64 Linux builds mean plugdata runs natively on the Raspberry Pi 5 — no emulation, no box64. That opens the RaspiAudio Pi 5 rig (see raspiaudio-camilladsp-spatial-multichannel and cardinal-vcvrack-pi5-headless-patching) to the full plugdata patch ecosystem: MIDI routers, OSC bridges, granular effects, multi-channel processors — all as an LV2 plugin inside a JACK graph alongside CamillaDSP and Cardinal. Notably, both norns and the Organelle M are Pd-based under the hood, so a plugdata patch that processes audio or sequences via MIDI can serve as a compatible, desktop-editable companion to Organelle Orac modules. The MIDI fix (channel routing) is directly relevant: the bridge's MIDI output now arrives on the correct channel inside plugdata DAW instances.

CME H4MIDI WC — 8-port USB host MIDI router and remapper

8-USB-port MIDI host + 2×DIN I/O with configurable routing, filtering, and MIDI remapping via free HxMIDI Tools — laptop-free USB glue box for class-compliant gear.

This is the missing link between the bridge's MIDI output (emitted over USB from the norns or the babayaga bridge) and the hardware synths — Analog Rytm and Octatrack — which use DIN MIDI. Right now, laptop-free MIDI from the bridge to the Rytm requires a class-compliant USB-MIDI cable and a laptop or the norns USB host port. The H4MIDI WC handles that routing as a fixed appliance: bridge → USB → H4MIDI WC → DIN MIDI OUT → Rytm/OT. It also means you can plug the Octatrack (DIN MIDI) and norns (USB MIDI) into the same device and route clock from the OT to norns without any intermediate computer. The CME USB-MIDI host box was already on the dspm gear roadmap (see gear-integration) — the H4MIDI WC is the specific model to evaluate.
